In the past few years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of the things that has generated discussions over how it affects human intelligence. Critics worry that after depending too much on AI, it will cause our capacity for thought to deteriorate. People could discover that they depend a lot on these tools to get things done quickly and efficiently. On the other hand, this dependence on automation may make people less motivated in terms of overall productivity. In my perspective, I do agree with this statement, and this essay will state my personal opinions.

AI makes people dumber as it gets smarter throughout the day. Such as ChatGPT, which offers us a wide range of answers to various kinds of questions. Although it can be effective effective for gathering knowledge, it could prevent people from practicing critical thinking and problem solving. Importantly, being able to access information through AI can also lead to a reliance on prepared solutions, resulting in a decrease in the development of mental abilities required for solving problems. As Phil Rosen stated in his blog, we may soon find out that ChatGPT is making us dumber the more we lean on it.

The rise of AI has changed the way we communicate. Previously, people rarely relied on AI for companionship and interaction, as it could lead to social isolation. People are basically social creatures, as they cannot live alone or in isolation. With AI, people tend to just work alone, which can result in a decrease in essential communication abilities like empathy and active listening, which are necessary for developing meaningful connections. The rise of artificial intelligence may eventually lead to fewer people attempting to learn a new language. Instead, they may rely solely on machine translation language models and natural language processing, as quoted from a study named Interactio.

In summary, artificial intelligence can have a significant impact on human intelligence. It can be effective for gathering knowledge but may hinder critical thinking and problem-solving. It may lead to reliance on pre-prepared solutions, reducing mental abilities for problem-solving. AI has also changed communication, reducing social isolation and reducing essential communication skills like empathy and active listening. Additionally, AI may discourage people from learning new languages by relying solely on machine translation models and natural language processing, as per a study by Interactio.
